Commentary Magazine's Alana Goodman on the myth that Barack Obama is a great orator:
Stilted, flat, unimaginative and full of banal observations. “Imagine if everybody had their own fire service,” he said at one point. “That would be a hard way to organize fighting fires.” Really? It actually sounds like firefighting would be pretty easy if America had 300 million fire services. Not that this is physically possible, or that anybody has ever proposed such a thing. “Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet,” he added. The idea that the government created the Internet to help companies make money is so obviously inaccurate that it’s not even worth discussing. And what does any of this have to do with raising federal income taxes? For the past four years, liberals have tried to sell us on the idea that Obama is one of the greatest speakers of all time. Now they’re complaining that conservatives are taking his words literally and not cutting him enough slack. Which one is it?

The Obama administration on the monthly jobs report:

Therefore, it is important not to read too much into any one monthly report and it is informative to consider each report in the context of other data that are becoming available.
Repeat, continuously and relentlessly, from November 2009 until June, 2012.

Question: It's been three years. At what point can we read something into these reports?

New Occupy Nonsense

The "Occupy" juvenile delinquents are threatening to disrupt Philadelphia on the 4th of July. From Deroy Murdoch:
The Occupy movement plans to occupy Philadelphia’s Independence Hall on July 4. The nearby Liberty Bell now will spend Independence Day surrounded by unwashed protesters twirling to the sounds of bongo drums.

This promises to be yet another example of the pointless Occupy movement aiming at “the 1 percent” while hammering the “99 percent,” whom they claim to represent. If they truly want to rankle the 1 percent, why don’t they occupy a country club?

Instead, Occupy’s presence in the City of Brotherly Love will require cops, sanitation workers (certainly), and perhaps firefighters to babysit these folks, rather than relax on July 4 with their friends and loved ones. These public servants definitely are not 1 percenters, nor are most of the taxpayers who finance their salaries and, on a national holiday, surely bonus pay.

Do these morons think they are actually convincing anybody to support their cause with this sort of behavior?
