Another Great Moment in Government
It's amazing anybody can run a business at all these days. Check out this government edict:
Employers are facing more uncertainty in the wake of a letter from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission warning them that requiring a high school diploma from a job applicant might violate the Americans with Disabilities Act.Is there anything a government bureaucrat won't dictate?
The development also has some wondering whether the agency’s advice will result in an educational backlash by creating less of an incentive for some high school students to graduate.

As a high school drop out, I had to compete with non drop outs for jobs, and often succeeded, but I believe this was based on merits, or at least how I represented them in an interview. I agree it's a bad idea to get rid of that requirement, for reasons so obvious I won't even bother to list them.
I have no opinion on the requirement, that's up to the employer. I object to the government telling employers what their employment criteria can and cannot be.
Oh, sorry. I guess I gave up being incensed by stupid government ordinances years ago, so I'm surprised to find you, or anyone who's been around as long as you and I have, still react so strongly to the infantilizing of it's citizens.
One thing to consider is the symbiosis of governments and corporations, and the fact that so many American corporations are global - so they need to be standardized somehow.
