The Germans, always on the cutting edge of technology, have invented Talking Garbage Cans. The intent is to demonstrate that Berlin is "a modern city with high-tech services"

Ever mindful of the sensibilities of the tourist industry, the wastebaskets will be programmed to say not just "Danke" upon use, but also "Merci" and "Thank You." No word on whether the English speaking cans will speak in an American or British accent. Way to go, Germany!
