I arrived at work safely this morning, but many of my neighbors hereabouts weren't so lucky:
Less than 1 inch of snow triggered more than 100 minor accidents Monday along a stretch of Interstate 64, prompting Virginia State Police to advise motorists to avoid the highway.Memo to my fellow Virginians: Four wheel drive may be useful in getting up to speed, but it is of absolutely no help when it comes time to stop. Slow down.
State police called in additional troopers to respond to approximately 115 accidents, primarily along a stretch of I-64 from Virginia Beach to Williamsburg, State Police Sgt. D.S. Carr said.
