Via Ann Althouse comes a link to this obituary for Jim Marshall, who died recently. Marshall created the famous amplifiers we see stacked high and wide at rock concerts, and it seems things aren't always what they seem:
"Hendrix used three 100-watt amps and three stacks," their inventor Jim Marshall once said. "KISS go a lot further, but most of the cabinets and amps you see on stage are dummies. We once built 80 dummy cabinets for Bon Jovi. They all do it — it's just backdrop.
That prompted me to do a little rooting around, and I came up with these pictures demonstrating just such an arrangement:
