The global warming nannies have upped the ante. In the name of fighting global warming, California wants a special surcharge on flat screen televisions.
That 52-inch, flat-screen television on the family room wall may have a terrific picture, but there's a big drawback: It's an energy hog.

State regulators are getting ready to curb the growing power gluttony of TV sets by drafting the nation's first rules requiring retailers to sell only the most energy-efficient models, starting in 2011.
Never mind what the public wants! Tell them what they can buy! You'll take our TV set and like it.

Meanwhile, the EPA takes the federal government into new territory. A cow tax. Based upon the Clean Air Act, they propose this:
“The tax for dairy cows could be $175 per cow, and $87.50 per head of beef cattle. The tax on hogs would upwards of $20 per hog,” the release said. “Any operation with more than 25 dairy cows, 50 beef cattle or 200 hogs would have to obtain permits.”
All this in the name of man made global warming. Which is a pile of horse manure.
